A court in Paris recently sentenced Abdel M. to four months' suspended imprisonment for stabbing a delivery rider (food courier) on his bicycle. The incident was recorded on video and sparked intense public reaction to violence against delivery workers.

During the trial, the defendant Abdel M. stated that he acted out of panic. 'I was afraid I would ruin everything I had built in France,' he explained calmly before the hearing. His lawyer, Master Adrien Robin, emphasized that Abdel M. has no criminal record and that he had established his own small business five years ago.

The defense lawyer requested that the cyclist (the delivery rider) also be charged, invoking 'mutual violence.' However, the victim, Abderrahim B., an Algerian man aged around 20 who is in France without legal status, did not appear at the hearing. The presiding judge noted that Abderrahim B. had already been convicted of aggravated theft in 2024 by a judge in Pontoise. Additionally, the police record indicates that he had repeated contacts with law enforcement, nearly nine times.
