WhatsApp is updating its Events feature, allowing guests who do not use the app to participate in planning. By creating an event and sharing a link, users can view details and confirm attendance (RSVP) directly from a browser, without needing to download WhatsApp or create an account. The global rollout of this update will take place in the coming weeks, coinciding with the proximity of seasonal events. [1]
The platform is also introducing an Events Home section, a dedicated hub for managing invitations and tracking RSVPs. Hosts can enable custom notifications and provide guests with the option to bring a companion. Access to this panel is via Settings > Events, where both received and created invitations are listed. Regarding privacy, WhatsApp specifies that the host's phone number remains invisible to unknown guests. Location details are displayed only after attendance confirmation, thereby protecting the location from accidental link distribution. [1]
