Democrats are preparing an extensive series of investigations into the Trump administration’s energy and mineral dealings, to begin once they take control of Congress in January 2027. The new Democratic majority plans to use subpoena powers to examine Venezuelan oil extraction agreements, investments in critical minerals, the war in Iran, and the cancellation of renewable energy projects, according to Reuters. President Trump will face intense scrutiny, scrutiny under the War Powers Act, and possible conflict-of-interest allegations, but Democrats’ ability to effectively change energy policy will remain limited by the President’s veto power.
