Indonesian singer Widya Soraya has addressed rumors questioning the sincerity of her religious conversion, emphasizing that it resulted in significant professional setbacks rather than financial gain. In an interview with Linda.nl, she explained that her testimony put her entire life on hold, noting that she lost five months of work as a result. [1]

Soraya expressed distress over suggestions that her faith was a marketing strategy or business model. She stated, ‘People say I’m insincere because they think it’s a business model. On the contrary, my testimony stopped everything in my life. It was definitely not a business model: it cost me five months of work. I was lucky to have savings.’ [1]

The singer also addressed hurtful online comments suggesting she suffers from psychosis or borderline personality disorder. She noted that these remarks target something she has dealt with throughout her life, stating, ‘It touches on something I’ve dealt with my whole life. That people call me crazy. Whether it’s my high school ex who still denies everything, or people online who say I’ve lost my way because I believe in God.’ [1]
