The 44-year-old French singer Lorie opened up about her life in her new documentary titled 'Lorie: Behind the Positive Attitude,' which aired on channel W9 on November 3, 2026. In this intimate project, the artist chose to clarify not only the aspects of her life behind the sunny and positive image, but also the profound pains that mark her, addressing for the first time extremely personal subjects related to the illness of loved ones. A central part of the revelations concerns the tragic death of Mialy Ramanantsoa, the singer's best friend, who passed away in the autumn of 2023 at the age of 42 after battling an aggressive breast cancer. Lorie recalls the moment she received the devastating news: 'My good friend died three weeks ago, so it’s hard,' the artist confessed to the camera. She explains the initial shock, when Mialy’s husband informed her that her friend’s time was running out, just days before she was still in good health. 'I collapsed to the ground,' Lorie recounted, evoking the immense pain caused by this sudden loss. [6] [4] [3] [2]

The bond between the two women dates back to early childhood, and Mialy played a crucial role in Lorie’s musical career. In fact, she is the friend who inspired one of the most iconic French hits, 'Je serai (ta meilleure amie)', released in 2001. In the documentary on W9, clips from the music video appear, filmed in Mexico, where the two friends are captured very close together, with Mialy sitting next to Lorie in a white car and participating in various scenes. Another sequence shows Mialy backstage at one of Lorie’s concerts, filmed some time before her death. [5] [4] [3]

The death of the precious friend resonates deeply with another tragedy suffered by the family, namely that of her mother. Lorie revealed how, in 2003, her mother was also diagnosed with breast cancer. When she was on tour, the artist felt helpless: 'I was afraid I would lose her. She had nausea, vomiting, fatigue, exhaustion, hair loss, mastectomy, reconstruction, all these surgeries,' Lorie admitted. Here, the singer compares the situation with her time on tour, remembering: 'On stage, it was like I was wearing armor, singing, smiling. Meanwhile, my only desire was to be with her.' Facing the loss of her friend, Lorie went into the studio to re-record 'Je serai' for a new album, just a few weeks before Mialy’s passing. [6] [3]
