Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have finalized a four-player swap ahead of the IPL 2027 season, marking significant adjustments in the squads of both franchises. [1] [2]
According to the agreement, English all-rounder Liam Livingstone and Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards join the CSK squad. In return, left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed and Australian pacer Nathan Ellis will migrate to SRH. [1] [2]
Livingstone was transferred to CSK for a sum of 6 crore Indian rupees, accepting a substantial salary cut from the 13 crore rupees for which SRH initially acquired him. Edwards joins the Chennai franchise at the value of his existing contract, 3 crore rupees. SRH had signed the Australian all-rounder prior to his international debut, but he did not play in IPL 2026 as a foot injury ruled him out for the entire season. [1] [2]
In counterpart, SRH secures the services of Khaleel Ahmed at the value of his existing contract, 4.8 crore rupees. The left-arm pacer is already familiar with the Hyderabad franchise, having previous stints there between 2018 and 2021. Ahmed moved to CSK prior to IPL 2025, where he made an immediate impact, taking 15 wickets in 14 matches. However, his campaign in IPL 2026 was interrupted by a right quadriceps injury, limiting him to just five matches before being ruled out. [1] [2]
The fourth player involved in the swap is Nathan Ellis, who moves to SRH at his existing rate of 2 crore rupees. The pacer, known for his variations and ability to deliver dangerous balls in the death overs, brings considerable experience deemed valuable for Hyderabad's pace attack. Additionally, Ellis was unavailable for the entire IPL 2026 season due to a severe hamstring injury. [1] [2]
This four-player swap gives CSK two foreign all-rounders, Livingstone and Edwards, while SRH bolsters its bowling resources by adding Khaleel and Ellis heading into the 2027 campaign. [1] [2]
