More than a dozen flights throughout Europe were disrupted early this Thursday due to bomb threats. Among the affected services was a Ryanair flight operating on the London Stansted–Bulgaria route, scheduled to land in the capital Sofia but diverted to Plovdiv, according to data from Flightradar24.
Many of the mentioned flights have already landed safely, and inspections conducted have not found explosives or suspicious objects aboard the aircraft. By 11:20, at least 15 flights across the continent had received alerts related to bomb threats. These incidents come just two days after multiple flights, including one departing from Heathrow and another from Manchester, were targeted by similar alerts, with the UK government labeling those cases as “malicious hoax threats”. According to Czech authorities, four unpublished flights have also received threats, and those planes were preparing for landing; authorities assessed the relevance of the threats as low, with post-landing pyrotechnic inspections to follow.
