The Minister of Justice, Vladislava Cojuhar; the Attorney General, Alexandru Makidon; and the Representative of the Moldovan Government to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), Mihaela Martynova, participated in a working meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Ministry and the aforementioned institutions. The main objective of the discussion was to identify necessary measures to accelerate the execution of ECtHR rulings within the country. [1]
Special attention was given to the execution of ECtHR rulings that fall under the competence of the General Prosecutor's Office. Among the discussed measures were the reopening and reconsideration of criminal cases, actions intended to remedy human rights violations identified by the European Court. The two institutions agreed to coordinate their efforts and intensify actions to enforce measures that have not yet been fulfilled. [1]
Cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and the General Prosecutor's Office covers both the prevention of future violations and the acceleration of the overall process of implementing ECtHR decisions. Effective implementation of these rulings constitutes an international obligation of the Moldovan state and a crucial element in protecting citizens' fundamental rights. [1]
Progress in the field of executing ECtHR rulings is considered essential for fulfilling the Republic of Moldova's commitments within its European integration process. Accelerating this process demonstrates the commitment of state institutions to international democratic standards. [1]
