A 27-year-old man was detained on Thursday, November 5, by the Prahova County Police and placed under investigation for committing crimes of theft and outraging public decency. The investigation began after the suspect was caught in the act of committing illegal acts at a shopping center in Ploiești, where he displayed unacceptable behavior towards the staff.

According to investigations carried out by the police, between September and November 2026, the young man allegedly stole clothing items and perfumes from the premises of several commercial companies in the city of Ploiești. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated at approximately 1,500 lei. Judicial sources told News.ro that the man had stolen clothes, footwear, and cosmetic products from three stores located in a large shopping center in the southern part of the city. [1]

The exhibitionist incident occurred in September, when employees of one store tried to stop the suspect. Instead of leaving the area, the young man went out to the shopping center's parking lot and undressed, taking off his pants in front of the employees. This gesture was investigated as an act with exhibitionist characteristics, the crime of outraging public decency being linked to his behavior towards people present in the area. [1] [2]

“From the investigations conducted so far, it emerged that between September and November 2026, a 27-year-old youth allegedly stole clothing articles and perfumes from the premises of several commercial companies in the city of Ploiești, with a total value of approximately 1,500 lei. Also, in September he committed acts with exhibitionist characteristics, in the presence of employees of a commercial company,” Prahova Police representatives stated. In parallel with the exhibitionist case, investigators are verifying another similar episode, which took place in the same month and involved the presence of employees.

Today, police carried out two home searches in the file opened against the man, concerning the commission of theft, qualified theft, and outraging public decency. The suspect was taken to the police station for questioning and, following the administration of evidence, was detained for a period of 24 hours. He will subsequently be presented to the competent prosecutorial office, where prosecutors will decide on any additional preventive measures. The investigation continues to establish all circumstances surrounding the acts and to recover the damages.
