The faster time flies and the colder it gets, fashion automatically switches to its preferred mode of operation for the winter season: emphasizing comfort and warmth without sacrificing style. While not all clothing items need constant advice – collars and long sleeves are dated – there are a few key pieces that define the ability to remain elegant amidst the chill. According to a recent interview with the German fashion magazine *Freundin*, designer Guido Maria Kretschmer identified three clothing articles that should certainly be in every fashion lover's wardrobe during cold weather. Kretschmer presented his latest collection for his brand, GMK, at the About You Fashion Show in Berlin. At this event, he revealed his expert eye for what he considers a classic and functional winter wardrobe. 'Winter is almost here again,' Kretschmer notes, highlighting that these seasons have led to comfortable and practical clothing at the expense of complicated or mismatched aspects. [1]
The first piece recommended by the designer for winter is a coat. He insists that no other element brings a more effective touch of stylish nonchalance to a winter outfit, 'a manteau is certainly a must-have for me'. But, as Kretschmer explains, the recommended coats should be beautiful and spacious, reflecting a requirement for comfort and appearance specific to the season. [1]
The second mandatory item is a sweater. Kretschmer observes that we are almost constantly dressed in sweaters in winter, because they can be perfectly combined with fur or jeans and provide a sense of warmth and comfort. According to the designer, sweaters should not be too short or too cropped. In fact, Kretschmer suggests that a proper sweater makes it possible to completely do without skirts or even dresses for some years. [1]
The third indispensable element, which he specially recommends, is wool socks. They offer a warm and aesthetic addition to a variety of outfits, providing support for any type of jumpsuits, dresses, or pants that can be worn in winter. [1]
