Meermin, the Mallorcan workshop founded in 2001, has launched its iconic unlined penny loafer in a new variation celebrating 25 years of operation: the shoe is now crafted from shell cordovan, a material renowned for its exceptional durability and distinctive appearance. The edition is available in burgundy. [1]

Shell cordovan is obtained exclusively from the lower layer of the hindquarters of equines, a highly restricted anatomical area of the animal, giving the material a status of rarity in the footwear industry. Although often confused with other fine leathers, horsehair cordovan has a distinct structure, described by sources as nearly indestructible, capable of surviving 'cockroach thighs,' and developing a unique shine and patina over time through scratches and natural wear. [1]

From a construction standpoint, the loafer retains its flexible leather sole, stitched with linseed thread, stitched welt, which allows for sole renewal and ensures long-term longevity, even in cases of natural asymmetric wear. The product is considered the 'cornerstone' of the brand, possessing 'timeless tenacity' and high versatility. [1]

The anniversary version represents a limited release, with no possibility of extended pre-orders, a condition imposed by the restricted nature of the material and production volume. Both designers and distributors are advised to check stock directly on the brand’s website for availability. [1]
