Joost Swinkels, a radio DJ and contestant on the Dutch survival reality show 'Expeditie Robinson,' has revealed the stringent packing rules for participants. In a TikTok video posted one day before his departure, Swinkels showed that competitors are allowed to bring an extremely limited amount of clothing to the island. [1]

According to Swinkels, the approved clothing list includes one cap, two underwear items, one shirt, and two pairs of socks. Additionally, contestants may pack one pair of shorts, two swim trunks, and one long pants item. Swinkels noted his strategic choice of the long pants, which were designed to zip off into shorts, effectively providing an additional short garment. [1]

The wardrobe allowance concludes with a single sweater. Swinkels emphasized the severity of the restriction, stating that contestants must make do with this minimal kit for the duration of the show, which lasts 30 days plus a bonus period. [1]

Beyond clothing restrictions, the harsh conditions of the island present further challenges. Previous contestant Kevin Hassing described the lack of hygiene facilities, noting that there are no toilets on the island. Participants must either defecate in the sea or on land, a task Hassing found particularly difficult as waste tended to float rather than sink in the water. [1]
