Arthur Edwards, the photographer who served the British Royal Family for nearly 50 years, has revealed an anecdote in his newly published memoir, 'Have You Got a Minute for a Feather?: My 50 Extraordinary Years with the Royal Family'. The book includes a memorable exchange regarding Princess Diana's iconic short hairstyle during the early 1990s. [1]

At the time, long hair was becoming the prevailing trend among royalty, exemplified by Queen Letizia of Spain and Kate Middleton. However, Princess Diana had previously helped revive the popularity of the short bob in the early 1990s. Her fresh and elegant look inspired many women, although it did not receive universal acclaim and drew some critical remarks. [1]

According to Edwards' account, he expressed disapproval of Diana's increasingly short haircut during a photoshoot session. The photographer, noting that Vogue model Linda Evangelista had made short cuts ultra-trendy, admits he did not waste time with pleasantries after finishing his work. He warned Diana: 'If you keep cutting your hair so short, you will end up looking like the pop star Sinead O'Connor.' [1]

Rather than taking offense, Princess Diana responded with her legendary wit, targeting the photographer's lack of hair. She retorted with a mischievous smile: 'At least I still have hair, Arthur.' [1]
