Nationwide award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh recently spoke about the challenges she faced with her family before uniting her destiny with her partner, Antony Thattil. The two met during school and were together for nearly 15 years, marrying in an intimate ceremony in Goa in December 2024. Although the road to the altar was not easy, initial differences in faith posed strong resistance from both families. [2] [1]
During the promotion of the film 'Akka', the star of 'Mahanati' revealed that her interfaith relationship with Antony caused friction within the family. Keerthy explained the timeline of their connection: “I met him in December 2009 and started dating in January 2010. In 2024 we got married. Since he is Christian, there were obviously issues at home that I had to manage. It took me some time to convince my family,” said Keerthy Suresh. [2] [1]
Despite her parents’ initial hesitations, Keerthy remained firm in her commitment to her partner. “He saw me before I became an actress. That’s the best part. We grew up together,” added the actress. Antony, who is seven years older than Keerthy, was working in Qatar when the two began their relationship. The couple apparently maintained a long-distance relationship for six years and kept it private for a long time. [1]
Keerthy Suresh also shared a delicate memory from her college days related to her mother, veteran Menaka, discovering the relationship. The actress clarified: “I started dating my husband right after I finished twelfth grade. When I was in college, my mother read my diary. I had everything written in there.” Menaka then replied: “I am your mother; I can read my daughter’s diary.” [1]
The incident affected her writing habit. “The worst part is that I completely stopped keeping a diary after that. I really liked writing, but I don’t know where the diary is now. I would really like to recover it. But I have the impression that my mother burned it,” completed Keerthy Suresh. [1]
Although she is one of the prominent faces of South Indian cinema, Keerthy managed to keep her romantic life away from the eyes of the public and the press until a few weeks before the wedding. Explaining this discretion, she said that maintaining privacy was not as difficult as it might seem. [2]
“I never went on vacations just the two of us; we always traveled with a group of friends. Even when photos were posted online, no one could guess that he was my boyfriend,” she confessed. Professionally, Keerthy Suresh recently appeared alongside Radhika Apte in the Netflix crime thriller 'Akka'. [2] [1]
