Actresses Tanvi Shewale, who plays the character Roshni, and Vaishali Arora, who portrays Riya in the popular Hindi series 'Udne Ki Aasha' (produced by Rolling Tales Production), recently gave separate interviews describing their artistic process and relationship with the characters, highlighting distinct approaches to intimacy with their roles. [1]

Tanvi Shewale explained that after nearly two and a half years playing the role of Roshni, she moved from meticulous preparation to instinct-based execution. 'Essentially, I spent a lot of time understanding Roshni's personality, but now I react much more naturally. I feel I no longer have to consciously decide how Roshni would react to every situation,' Shewale stated, emphasizing that her deep familiarity with the character allows her to play impulsively without confusing the individual with the role. She noted that between 'Action' and 'Cut' she is Roshni, but outside of those cues, she remains Tanvi. [1]

In contrast to this clear separation, Vaishali Arora stated that she feels a significant resemblance between herself and her character, Riya. 'I find many similarities between Riya and me, whether it's reactions, instincts, or emotions... She is just like me,' Arora said. She described the character as funny, intelligent, and highly expressive, aspects she finds in her own personality. Although she appreciates the creative freedom offered by the production team, Arora admits that familiarity with a beloved character can sometimes become limiting. [1]

Both actresses discussed the creative freedom present on set, though the emphasis differed. Arora noted that if a scene is planned in a certain way but her interpretation takes a different direction, the directors and writers discuss this new perspective and provide space for adaptation, even down to minor details such as movement within the frame. Shewale emphasized that this flexibility is crucial for an authentic presence, allowing her to apply her own perspectives to a scene if she feels the character would not act in a specific manner. Audience reaction was also a significant element in the actresses' reflections. Vaishali Arora stated that she was surprised and hurt by the negative viewer reaction to the change in Riya's attitude following the show's narrative leap. Many viewers were disappointed that Riya was no longer friendly with another character, Sailee, believing that a negative portrayal ruined her previous positive image. While Shewale did not mention specific controversies, she remarked on the evolution toward a deeper understanding and the natural reactivity of her character, based on accumulated familiarity over time.
