The French streaming platform Prime Video launched the drama series *Campus Driver* on Friday, November 6, 2026, featuring Carmen Kassovitz in her first leading role. Kassovitz, 24, is the daughter of renowned actor and director Mathieu Kassovitz. In an interview with *Le Parisien*, she addressed the public perception of her career trajectory and the concept of nepotism in the entertainment industry. [1]
Born in Martinique, Kassovitz spent much of her childhood with her mother, actress Julie Mauduech, known for her role in *La Haine*. Mauduech, who later became a theatre professor, played a pivotal role in her daughter's early development, allowing her to participate in rehearsals and substitute for actors who dropped out at the last minute. This early immersion in theatre preceded her entry into film and television, with roles in projects such as *Stalk* (2019), *Tempête* (2022) alongside Mélanie Laurent and Pio Marmaï, and a small part in *The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon* spin-off, slated for 2027. [1]
Kassovitz openly acknowledged the influence of her family name in securing industry access. She stated, 'Let’s not mince words, I was lucky enough to meet my agent quite easily... It probably worked because I am my father’s daughter and that may have attracted casting directors. Besides, it’s not maybe, it’s sure.' She rejected the idea of adopting a stage name, reasoning that her lineage would inevitably become known, making it preferable to keep her identity intact. The central plot of *Campus Driver* involves an unlikely romance between two students from different worlds. [1]
